Why Did We Move?

Peeps keep asking the folks, "So, what made you move back to Illinois?" The following pictures remind us of WHY we moved... even though the right job hasn't come along for Papa yet.

Please continue praying for us - that's the greatest kindness you can do for our fam. And we know SO many peeps all over this land are doing just that! Praise God!

So, as we close another week of unemployment we have MUCH to sing praises to God about:

- received another unexpected check in the mail for an "escrow balance refund" from the condo we sold in MD

- received a box of clothes from a friend in MD with goodies for each of us kids

- Mommy found (kinda was misplaced due to the move) an extravagent gift for Kadin from dear friends in NJ (Drefkos, you are all CRAZY!)

- Daddy, Mommy and us kiddos were able to be together for more quality time!

How great our God is!
~joshua

Okay, so this picture has nothing to do with WHY we moved... except, of course, that Kadin is also happy he's not in the folks closet anymore.

What a HUGE difference it has made having the space to play outside. Our little balcony in MD was nice and all but it was WAY too small for the both me and Saraina to play!

And to have really great parks nearby with things like sandboxes is really cool! And having a garage makes a HUGE difference for Mama since she doesn't have to carry 2 of us at once to get in or out of the stroller or minivan.

Okay, this doesn't have anything to do with WHY we moved but Saraina thought my new hat from Grandad was so cool that she had to try it on. Maybe she'll get a hat like this one day. All I know is she's not getting THIS one!

Again, throwing balls high in the air wasn't allowed in the condo. Mama was kinda paranoid of someone or something getting hurt.

Kadin's 2 month stats...

Here's a real quick update:

Kadin David turned TWO MONTHS on March 12th. He weighed in at 10 pounds 2 ounces and supposedly shrank from 21.5 inches to 12 inches - go figure that one! The doctor, whom Mama likes a lot, said Kadin is VERY strong and seems like he's ready move all over. No surprise to Mama since he often groans when he's moved himself flush against the side of the crib! He continues to be an amazingly sweet baby that sleeps ALL THE TIME!!

Below are 2 pictures of Little K smiling during his playtime and one of us big kiddos at night night time. And don't you LOVE my hair. I do!

Much love from the midwest,
~saraina

Thanking God for Trials

Romans 5:3-5a

... we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame...

We kiddos are almost ashamed to consider our family's situation "suffering" but this verse is what we're holding tight to right now. (Thanks, Uncle Danny!) Although there are MANY, MANY believers in SO MANY places that are under serious tribulation and hardcore suffering - even to the point of death - we are experiencing our own "WIMPified" version as we work hard at remembering THE TRUTH.

What we're talking about is this: although it can be extremely scary at times waiting for the LORD to open up a job for Daddy to support our fam, we must remember THE TRUTH. When bills are due, groceries needed, days turn into weeks of unemployment, as a fam we must remind ourselves of HIS faithfulness.

Check out His faithfulness:
- countless peeps ALL OVER this country lifting our fam up in prayer
- a large tax return
- a cash gift of $1000 from our old care group and dear friends
- a cash gift of $1525 from the worship team at our old church
- unexpectant money from the State of IL for Mommy's one year teaching
- another 2 job interviews lined up for Daddy this week
- all of our fam TOGETHER during this time, adding sweet memory after sweet memory
- having our new church family and now nearby relatives help us move in
- and COUNTLESS other blessings that would make you laugh in shock!

But above all, us kiddos and our folks are remembering the ONE who took care of our GREATEST need, a need for a Savior to save us from our countless sins. Yes, while we were still sinners, running fast and hard from God, He saved us and paid the debt we could NEVER pay or earn. Man, we got it good! Sure hope you do too.

Finally, here are some pixs to enjoy... and please keep lifting us up in prayer!

Kadin David... Getting Big

Kadin is such a good baby! Seriously, the dude sleeps so much that we really can't complain. He has kicked his crying up a notch but usually he's trying to communicate to the folks that he's wet or poopy or hungry.

Because we (Joshua and Saraina) dominated the previous entry we thought Kadin deserved an entry all to himself.

So, here's 8 week old Kadin David Whitney!

Here's our cute brother yawning and sticking out his lips.

This is Mommy holding Kadin just the other day. We like his baseball cap.

And here he is again sharing another adorable smile. Don't you want to just grab him and hug him all over?!?!?!

Change is Here to Stay

A new home. Everyone has been asking how we kiddos are adjusting to our new temporary home. To tell you the truth, life has been so crazy for the last 8 or so weeks that we aren't quite sure what "normal" is! And with the time changing in a couple of days, the folks say we're in for more change!

Since Kadin arrived on the scene it seems change has been happening more regularly. I guess that means in our minds change IS normal. In the words of our former, former pastor, "Change is here to stay!" Can you say AMEN to that?! We sure can!

What's the big deal about change anyway? In our weird-o fam, we are ALL about change. In fact, our folks have told us that change is our only hope and that this place we call home (meaning Earth) really isn't our final destination anyway. So, we kiddos say, "Bring it on!" when it comes to change.

Here are a few other areas we are experiencing change:

-- Kadin is now 8 weeks old. He'll be 2 months on Monday! He's an adorable baby boy. We keep hearing the folks call him "Little Little." PLEASE, someone talk to them about that nickname. No one in their right mind wants to be called "Little Little." But, we guess it is better than the nickname "Brisket" which Daddy laughed about with Mommy.

-- Daddy has been able to spend a TON of time with us kiddos since he's still looking for a job. As a result, we've had every meal together, have worshipped the Lord together as Daddy plays the guitar, gone to the Dept. of Motor Vehicle together (which is always interesting!), and our favorite... gone to the PLAYGROUND!!!!

-- We all got new beds too. Kadin has moved out of Daddy and Mommy's closet and the pack-n-play to his very own crib (Saraina's old one). He loves it! Saraina has moved into Joshua old toddler bed set-up and has been experiencing much discipline as she struggles to obey by stay ON her bed at nap and bed times. Joshua has graduated to his very own big boy bed! Mommy and Daddy were a little more excited than he was. And we are all in the same room together. So far so good!

Well, we're going on and on knowing that peeps only check this site for the pixs sooooooo... here they are. (Oh- and Kadin will be in the next entry!)

Peace and love,
the three kiddos

Here's our bedroom. All three of us are in one room and enjoying the company.

Mommy had Daddy put our dresser in the closet to make more room for our toys.

Here are JCW and SEW enjoying time at the playground with Daddy. In the background you can see what lots of the houses look like in our neighborhood. Daddy and Mommy are sure if this is the neighborhood God would have them purchase a home in one day. But we sure are going to enjoy it for as long as we're here.

This is a picture of Mommy, Joshua and Saraina on the bed at the Residence Inn.

And here's Joshua and Saraina with Daddy.
